Enable file:// links as links / Toggleable link filtering

Currently there seems to be a filter in place in the html core renderer that filters any (external) link not beginning with http(s):. I am not 100% certain if that filter is only there but it would be great if file:// links would not just get filtered out (maybe a toggleable thing) to get easier access to e.g. an internal server.

Well, if this is still an issue, and for reference to others, the workaround I found was to install a Chrome extension named “Redirector”. With the extension you can, for example, say that http://localhost/redirect=* will map to file://$1 and then when you click http://localhost/redirect=SOME_PATH it will execute file://SOME_PATH in the URL.

Not planned as
file://
protocol links are blocked by most browsers. Even if they were not filtered, they wouldn't work.R

Nicolas Giard: I also need that feature for a local wiki used for my local files. It would be nice to let us decide to use or not and to deal with the browser.

This would sadly only work in special preconfigured browsers.
Try it with a small local html file and an <a> file:// link.
Yes it you enter it directly it works (e.g. nice for pdfs) but per default not on a website.
