I would like to have a button to show the article in a full screen view with the sidebars collapsed. This would make it easier to view the articles on a tablet, see pictures side by side in a table, and more.

One acceptable solution is in "Page Actions" > "View Source" to add another button "Live View" (next to "Return To Normal View").

I want to propose a new menu item under "Page Actions" named "Full Screen" that allows current page to be displayed in full browser space and <ESC> for returning back.

actually this would be really useful, although getting the CSS right might be tricky as

the aspect ratio might change
or we lock the aspect ratio and just zoom in
or we lock the aspect ratio and readjust the text but then the layout might fall apart with images with text nearby
